Walton County Garbage truck's load catches fire

One lane of westbound US 78 closed for cleanup

MONROE — A load in a garbage truck caught fire on U.S. 78, affecting traffic Thursday morning.

It happened on U.S. 78 near Monroe between Edmondson Road and Unisia Drive (Georgia 83).

Walton County Fire Rescue extinguished the fire, but the outside lane of westbound U.S. 78 remained closed at about 10:45 a.m. due to cleanup work.
