MONROE, Ga. — DeDe Harris, the executive director of Walton Wellness, joined the board of trustees of the William Harris Homestead Foundation on May 17.

Harris founded Walton Wellness in 2011. It’s a nonprofit whose mission is “to make living a healthy lifestyle in Walton County easier than living unhealthy.” Walton Wellness is dedicated to the prevention of lifestyle-related chronic illness. She is also a co-founder of Marrow Man Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to the support of families of children who have bone marrow illnesses and to raise awareness of bone marrow donation.

With her experience with Walton Wellness and Marrow Man, Harris will bring many talents and ideas to the William Harris Homestead Foundation.

“I am honored at being the first non-family member trustee and am excited about the opportunity to support this valuable organization,” Harris said.

Board members said they were pleased to add Harris to the board to help guide the William Harris Homestead into the future of Walton County and Georgia.

The William Harris Homestead is a historic site in north Walton County, a Walton County Historic Landmark and entry on the National Register of Historic Places. Its mission is to serve as a cultural and educational center dedicated to the advancement of heritage, agricultural and environmental scholarship. Its vision is to preserve an early Georgia homestead and provide education and insight into its cultural and historical impact.

The William Harris Homestead is located at 3636 Highway 11 NW, between Monroe and Bethlehem.
