The boxes and packages were piling up inside Rinse Bath & Body last Friday morning, with dozens of workers milling about, trying to get as many of them in the mail as quickly as possible.

On Thursday morning, the company was featured on Good Morning America’s Deals and Steals with Tory Johnson, a segment of the show where the host profiles a group of products and offers discounts on them.

Last week, the theme was “Clean Beauty,” offering self-care products that were produced without harsh chemicals.

Rinse, with it’s natural ingredient based products, fit the bill perfectly.

The segment features some of Rinse’s lip balms, all-natural deodorants and other products. All the offerings were discounted.

“Everything from this company is beautiful,” Johnson said.

According to owner Heather Swanepoel, she and her team were at the New York Now gift show a little while ago, when producers from Good Morning America came by their booth and asked to use it in the show. A few months later, Rinse was on the air.

Since the segment ran, the orders have flooded in. By the end of the day on Thursday, the staff had sent out 5,314 orders, with more coming in by the second.

That order total was more orders than Rinse sent out all last year.

“It’s the biggest day in Rinse history,” Swanepoel said.

The show sets up a separate website that hosts the discounted items for a limited time, in this case all day Thursday and Friday, with the deals expiring on Saturday morning.

When the website closed, Rinse had clocked almost 6,000 orders. By Monday morning, they had managed to ship almost 4,000 of them, although the boxes and FedEx packages were still piled high around the store.

Swanepoel said she had to find people from all over to deal with the onslaught.

“We’ve had to get staff from everywhere, friends, neighbors, even a few people from our Disney location,” she said.

It was her daughter's birthday on Thursday, so needless to say she had a Rinse themed party at the Broad Street store.
