MONROE, Ga. — The Monroe Fire Department received a call late on Saturday night that a tree was on fire and burning from the inside out on Pinecrest Drive.

Although the cause is unknown, the Fire Department believes that it was struck by lightning a few days prior and was smoldering until it eventually caught on fire.
