City moves ahead on shopping center

Posted: Saturday, July 6, 2019 12:00 am

The Monroe Pavilion shopping center on Charlotte Rowell Boulevard edged toward a groundbreaking at the Monroe City Council meeting on Tuesday, as the council granted developer MAB American a rezone on the 95-acre property.

About 11 months ago, the city of Monroe and MAB American signed a memorandum of understanding, agreeing to work together on things like the utilities and infrastructure needed from the 60-store center, in exchange for assurances that the center would eventually be delivered.
