Police Chief Mike McHugh said preliminary indications are Richard Vincent Ferri, 41, of Loganville, was shot once in the head by law enforcement following a 13-hour standoff that ended Saturday morning.
“Communications were not being productive and it became apparent talking was not going to help him come out,” McHugh said as to why police started lobbing tear gas into the house at 1205 Granite Lane. “After the second round of tear gas, for the next hour we could hear him and it sounded like he was wounded. Another hour later, the line went silent. At that point we felt we needed to gain access into the house to see his status.”
