MONROE — The Walton County Board of Commissioners voted to dip into the reserves a little bit more — to the tune of about $1 million — to cover debt service payments for Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax projects.

County officials managed to balance their budget for the current fiscal year, though they planned on using about $2.8 million of reserve funding to cover debt service obligations for already bonded monies related to current SPLOST projects. But the shortfall exceeded projections, totaling $3.87 million.
