Change of plans on eclipse

Posted: Wednesday, August 16, 2017 12:00 am

Social Circle City Schools has changed course on its plans for the solar eclipse and will now be allowing students to view the historic event after acquiring viewing equipment for the astronomical phenomenon.

Officials at the school system had previously shown a reluctance to making a viewing of the eclipse part of the school day on Monday, when the moon will obscure the sun across the states. Walton County will not experience full totality of the eclipse, but more than 98 percent of the sun will be covered in the area.
