Garrett retires after 45-year military career

Randy Garrett bid a fond farewell to public service in 2012, ending his stint as mayor of Good Hope, and has followed that up in 2013 by bidding a fond farewell to another major component of his life: military service.

“I played war as a child and never grew out of the love of our military and the values it stands for,” Garrett said about embarking on a 45-year military career. “My continuity of service was not a conscious effort — it was and is an extension of the way I have been called to live my life, a way of honoring the obligations we have to those who have served, are serving and will serve the U.S.”
