Pridgen bids SC adieu

Long-time local principal to retire at calendar year’s end

Posted: Saturday, September 29, 2018 12:00 am | Updated: 12:01 am, Sat Sep 29, 2018.

Beth Pridgen has taught and worked in the Social Circle City Schools district for 30 years, spending her entire career in the small town’s schools since her first days as a student teacher at Social Circle Elementary School.

“I started here in 1988 doing my student teaching,” Pridgen said. “Jimmy Hogg was the principal then and he watched me teach one day. Afterward, he talked to me and asked if I wanted a job. I thought he meant for the next year and said ‘Yes.’ He looked at me and said, ‘Great, you start on Monday.’”
