Angel Food Ministries associate Michaels given jail time, fine

While Angel Food Ministries founders Joe, Linda and Andy Wingo find out their fate in federal court Thursday, one of the co-conspirators has already been sentenced.

Harry Michaels was set to face a maximum prison sentence of 85 years on the original counts of the indictment, though a plea bargain on Feb. 25 resulted in him admitting guilt to only conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The final sentence adjudicated July 24 sentenced Michaels to 30 months of jail at a federal prison camp in Montgomery, Ala., where he will also undergo treatment in the Residential Drug Abuse Treatment Program. Upon his release, he will serve three years of supervised probation and pay fines totaling $36,000, according to court documents.
