A license to drive

Posted: Wednesday, August 13, 2008 1:00 am

WALTON COUNTY - After a lengthy negotiation process, the county bought land in Between as the site for a Georgia Department of Driver Services driver's license facility last week.

"Due to facilities in Conyers, Athens and Lawrenceville, the DDS determined the location for Walton County needed to be in the Between area," Walton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Kevin Little said. "This was a total seesaw effort, but we now have 77 acres that can be used for the driver's license facility. We also are looking toward the future and, if we have the funds, to put an adult sports complex here as well."
