SOCIAL CIRCLE — It’s not an uncommon sight these days for young people to spend part of their summers traveling abroad to help people in less fortunate nations or underdeveloped countries, building structures and bringing supplies to ensure American largesse makes it to people who need it the most around the world.

For the eight students from Social Circle Middle School who recently did such a thing, the trip was typical of such events: the six boys and two girls, all rising ninth-graders, traveled with three adult chaperones outside of the U.S. to do their part in giving back to others in need.
