MONROE — Tommy Stringer, a retired educator, is expected to be the next member of the Walton County Board of Commissioners.

Stringer apparently was the top choice of commissioners to serve out the unexpired term of Loganville Republican Clinton Ayers, who died Oct. 26. Ayers was elected to a fifth term in 2014.
