Board raises pay, cuts taxes

Posted: Wednesday, August 14, 2019 12:00 am

The Social Circle Board of Education passed its budget for the 2019-20 school year, with across-the-board raises implemented without a tax increase for the coming year.

The board unanimously approved the $19.1 million budget for Social Circle City Schools, which includes $3,000 raises for every teacher in the system, as suggested by Gov. Brian Kemp. The board also chose to implement 3% raises for every classified employee, without state funding, on its own initiative.
