MONROE — The Walton County Board of Commissioners approved funding last week for a bridge which was shut down by Georgia Department of Transportation.

The bridge is on Jersey-Covington Road south of Jersey at the upper portion of the Cornish Creek Reservoir. According to county officials, due to the rise and fall of water levels in the stream, some corrosion and section loss has occurred at the steel support columns.
