SOCIAL CIRCLE — More than a dozen people turned out Thursday night to protest the Social Circle Board of Education’s preliminary decision to end the swim teams at Social Circle middle and high schools.

Natalie Hand, a concerned parent of a boy on the high school swim team, spoke to the board during the public participation portion of the board’s monthly meeting and expressed dismay over the proposed cancellation, set to take effect at the end of the next school year, and asked the board to reconsider its determination.
