Jerry Wayne Sliger, 56, of Good Hope, formerly of Buchanan County, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Abbey Hospice, Social Circle, following an extended illness.
Born in Buchanan County, he was the son of James E. and Gladys Pearl Turner Sliger. He was a resident of Buchanan County for many years prior to moving to Georgia 26 years ago and was a member of Harman Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was a lawn business owner.
Sliger is survived by his wife, Patricia Gail Deel Sliger; sons, Brandon and wife Tyson Sliger, of Orlando, Fla., and Nathan Sliger, of Buford; grandchildren, Taylor Sliger, of Monroe, and Emmalee and Rylee Sliger, of Orlando, Fla.; sisters, Janice Breitenbach, of Belews Creek, N.C., Margaret Ratliff, of Kernersville, N.C., Patricia Ratliff, of Kernersville, N.C., Reba Cantrell, of Grundy, Va., and Lucille Duncan, of Walnut Cove, N.C.; and brothers, Ronnie and wife Janie Sliger, of Grundy, Va., and James “J.D.” Sliger, of Grundy, Va.
Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 1, at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie Wilson and Evangelist Josh Bowman officiating. Burial followed in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. Active Pallbearers were family and friends.
