Ermine Toney Davis, 85, of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Ermine was born on June 28, 1933, in the same house she grew up in on Broad Street in Monroe. She met the love of her life, Carl W. Davis Jr. (C.W), of Bold Springs, while playing the piano at Walker Baptist Church. They were married 63-plus years. Ermine was an accomplished pianist who used that talent playing for multiple gospel quartets, the pianist of Mount View Baptist Church and playing before the morning services at Monroe Baptist Church.

Ermine and Carl were members of Avondale First Baptist Church for more 40 years, and Ermine was the church clerk for many years.

Ermine’s talent for decorating cakes led to her catering more than 30 weddings for many happy couples. She enjoyed traveling and with Carl at her side they visited many different states, and several different countries. Ermine’s true joy in life was taking care of her family.

Ermine was preceded in death by her parents, Julia Adams Toney and Jett Toney, of Monroe, and her only brother, Virlyn Toney, of Winder.

Ermine is survived by her devoted husband, Carl Davis; daughter, Lori (Brian) Burnham, of Cartersville; son, Judson (Lynn) Davis, of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Zachary Burnham, Elise, Jonathan, Christopher, Abbey and Alexa Davis; two nieces, Jana Hall and Jeannie Warbington; sisters-in-law, JoAnn Toney and Audrey Granade; and multiple cousins.

Visitation will be held at Meadows Funeral Home at 760 Highway 11 SE, Monroe, on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2018 from 1 to 2 p.m. with a graveside service at Rest Haven Cemetery at 200 N. Madison Ave., Monroe, at 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Monroe.
