Hiram Chandler, 89, of Good Hope, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011. Funeral services were Friday, April 15, 2011, at Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Brant Callaway officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Chandler was a retired rural mail carrier and farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II along with his twin brother, Herman Chandler, who died in 2009. The brothers received a letter from President Dwight D. Eisenhower noting their side-by-side service together during the war. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Hilda Malcom Chandler, son, Bill Chandler, daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Wayne Hale, and brother, Mell Chandler, all of Good Hope; sister, Eula Mae Adcock, of Monroe; grandchildren, Brent and Carli Chandler, Scott Chandler, and Matt and Kerie Garrett; greatgrandchild, Halee Rae Garrett; as well as Steve and Debbie Chandler and Chae and Alicia Chandler.
