Obituary | 1945–2019 Mary Anne Sims

Mary Anne Sims, 74, of Monroe, died Monday, May 27, 2019.

She was born in Walton County on Jan. 28, 1945, to Mary Laura Belle Jones Copeland and Harry Langford Copeland.

She is survived by her husband, James Madison H. Sims; daughters and sons-in-law, Mindy and John Paul Murphy, of Monroe, Christy Harden, of Monroe, and Laura and Adams Ropp, of Jacksonville, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Hoyt and Linda Copeland, of Luthersville; sisters-in-law, Cathy Sims, of Monroe, and Sara Jo Sims, of Winder; grandchildren, Jade McPhearson, Noah Harden, Emilyn Ropp and Hadley Ropp; and great-grandchild, Rhett Smith.

Mary Anne Sims will be remembered for her loving heart and strong spirit. Mary Anne served as the secretary-treasurer for Sims Paving Inc., a family-owned business, for 43 years. She dedicated more than 20 years of volunteering to the American Red Cross. Mary Anne was a member of the Pilot Club and Center Hill Baptist Church. Gardening, traveling, cooking, listening to old-time country music, fishing, spoiling her grandchildren and playing cards with her friends were her favorite pastimes.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 30, at Center Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Marion Prather and the Rev. Steve Moon officiating. Burial will follow at Hebron Christian Church Cemetery.
