Sammy Lee Slaton, 72, of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019.

He was born in Monroe on Aug. 3, 1946, to Harvey Wade Slaton and Sallie Looney Slaton.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, the late Hubert Slaton.

Surviving are his wife, Elisia Stapp Slaton; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Jimmy Lazenby, of Monroe, and Amanda and Thomas Hawk, of Bostwick; sisters, Patsy Smith, of Good Hope, and Laverne Stovall, of Rutledge; and grandchildren, Erica Lazenby, Haley Lazenby, Madison Lazenby, Mackenzie Hawk and Eric Hawk.

Funeral services began at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at the Monroe Church with the Rev. Terron Gentry, the Rev. Greg Baldwin and the Rev. Greg Anschutz officiating.
