Milligan: Board all too eager to throw fine arts under the bus in budget

Posted: Saturday, June 15, 2019 12:00 am

Budgeting is not an easy task, I know. One look at my personal finances would show I hardly have a natural knack for the fine art of balancing a budget, so I don’t envy the public servants whose role it is to craft budgets for our cities and school systems as the new fiscal year looms just weeks away.

The difficult task of selecting which financial needs are the highest priorities, and which can wait to a later date to free up funds for greater needs, is one that I watched with interest Wednesday evening at the budget meeting of the Social Circle Board of Education.
