Our View on the Issue Our View: City Council stands up for animals

It’s tempting to think the issue of tethering animals in Walton County was decided when the Board of Commissioners voted earlier this month against a ban.

For months, animal rights activists had visited the board’s monthly meetings, asking commissioners to consider a ban that would get dogs off 24/7 chains. Board members voted in April to authorize the county attorney and animal control director to write a change to the law, but when it came decision-making time, that failed.
