COLUMN: Reflecting on lessons learned, battles won as school year nears end

Posted: Saturday, April 15, 2017 12:00 am

As we near the end of another school year, it always helps to reflect on accomplishments and those lessons-learned.  Next week we begin the EOC’s and EOG’s (End-of-Course and End-of-Grade standardized assessments) which many feel paint the picture of what a school system is, and though these are important and we have prepared very hard for them, there truly is so much more to a school system that we reflect upon at this time of year and throughout.

Our recent successful accreditation process, AdvancED, reminds us that we are and should continue to be a well-rounded district.  High expectations for a culture of academia, strong leadership, a safe environment, goals and parental/community involvement all help to make a successful school system.  We continue to see these attributes all around us in classrooms, collaborative groups, school clubs, competitive sports and generally all aspects of the school system.
