Well I’m back in Fostoria, Ohio, to attend my 50th high school class reunion. Some say high school was the best time of their life while others wish those four years never happened. Personally, it was a time where I didn’t let my education interfere with my studies — especially in my senior year.
It’s hard to think of your senior year as the year of “lasts” — last homecoming, school play, football game, prom. We wanted to make it a year to remember and never regret. For some of us it would be the last time we would ever see each other again. But with graduation day, the beginning of a lot of “firsts” just started. The first time we are out on our own, to become like the butterfly when it first leaves the cocoon. Our first time to seek employment or to head off to further our education. The first time to realize we were finally on our own, to become independent.
