Town green plans show commitment

Downtown Monroe will soon have a place for dog walking, Frisbee throwing, picnics, concerts and community, just a few blocks off Broad Street.

Last week, the Monroe City Council voted to buy the vacant lot on South Madison Street next to the old fertilizer plant. Its aim it to turn it into a town green over the next few years.
