Challenging Hice to make a plan on budget

Posted: Saturday, May 19, 2018 12:00 am

GOP Chairman Roy Roberts in his letter replying to my letter on Rep. Jody Hice’s successive columns indicates that I did not make myself sufficiently clear in my letter or that he did not read it carefully.

I did not complain about “Republicans increasing the national debt.” It was Rep. Hice who objected to the size of that debt and the sums being appropriated for this fiscal year. How much the federal government should spend each year and how much debt it should take on are very complicated questions which include how well the economy is functioning and what the borrowed money will be spent on.
