Hice’s ideas on balance budget lacking balance

Posted: Saturday, April 28, 2018 12:00 am

U.S. Rep. Jody Hice, in his guest column of April 18, 2018, decries the size of the federal debt and deficit. Yet he is happy about the amounts appropriated for the armed forces even though the United States spends more on that item than the seven countries who come after us and some of those (Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and South Korea) are our allies.

He objects to the spending on Planned Parenthood even though it is less than 0.0005 percent of all federal spending. In complaining about the time it took for the Senate to pass a spending bill he fails to mention that it is the Republican leader of the Senate who controls what gets to the floor and when. So he blames the Democrats for the problem.
