Isakson stands in way of fixing filibuster rule

Posted: Saturday, August 19, 2017 12:00 am

The Senate has become a place where legislation comes to die. Apparently, a majority of Senators want the Senate to continue to perform as it has recently.

If the Democrats were in power, they would change the filibuster rule to a simple majority as evidenced by Harry Reid’s statement, “The Senate will have to evolve as it has in the past. … But it will evolve with a majority vote determining stuff. It is going to happen.”  (“Senate must end the tyranny of the minority and abolish the filibuster,” thehill.com, Rep. Trent Franks, Aug. 7).
