High School Athletics: GHSA dead week begins

Local athletes get week off from prep activities

Posted: Friday, June 28, 2019 3:18 pm

Summer is a slow time for high school athletics in general, but it gets even slower over the next week with the Georgia High School Association’s annual “dead week” beginning Sunday.

Each year the GHSA requires all high school athletic-related summer activities to be suspended the first week in July each year in order to allow athletes to have some free time during the summer. This includes any type of voluntary workout or competitions where coaches and athletes would be present in an athletic capacity.
