Third-inning rally propels Bulldogs

GWA ends regular season with victory

MONROE — George Walton Academy exploded for five runs in the bottom of the third inning Wednesday and went on to beat Commerce 7-3 in the final regular season softball game for the Lady Bulldogs. GWA finished with a 13-11 overall record, but were 11-1 in Region 8-A heading into this weekend’s postseason tournament.

Brooke Moon picked up the victory for the George Walton squad, entering the game in relief of starter Autumn Parrish in the third inning. Parrish led the Lady Dogs at the plate with a perfect 3-for-3 performance. She also scored twice and drove in two runs. Halie Sorrows went 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Natalie Carney drove in a pair of runs with her first homer of the season.
