The 2012 football season is halfway done. Most of our local contingent will be taking the weekend off before beginning the home stretch, so now would seem like a nice time to take stock of where we are at this point. Heading into the new year, I was uncharacteristically optimistic. So far, two teams are making me look pretty smart. Three others are revealing my ignorance.
On paper, Monroe Area and George Walton Academy were loaded heading into the fall. They’ve managed to translate theory into practice. The two have a combined 9-1 record — which, coincidentally, is the record I predicted both to end the regular season with — and are ranked seventh in their classifications.
