Stovall: Kobe’s death hit the sports world hard

The irony of where I was when the news of Kobe Bryant’s passing broke is striking. 

Two weeks ago Sunday, TMZ broke the internet, not to mention the hearts of every basketball lover in the world, when it reported that the former Los Angeles Laker, 5-time NBA champion and surefire hall of famer’s life had been cut down, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others, in a helicopter crash.
