Published March 20, 2009

LOGANVILLE —Athletics were in high gear last week at Loganville Christian Academy as the Lions had contests scheduled in four separate sports — and won them all.

In girls softball action, the Lady Lions posted a 5-2 win on the road at Trinity Christian Academy (Peachtree City) on the strength of another strong outing by Rebecca Butler. The Lady Lions ace pitched seven innings and rang up 11 strikeouts, gave up four walks and allowed only four hits.

Kelsie Scarborough went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base. Brittany Wilson, Hanah Hobbs, Savannah Cook and Lindsey Monteon all added an RBI each. Kristen Craig swiped a couple of stolen bases.

The Diamond Lions are back in action at 4:30 p.m. Saturday against Westminster Christian in Watkinsville.

The Driver Twins – Brand and Brooks – led the way with a pair of goals each with assists from Braden Berry, Nolan Callaway and Jordan Davis.

“The team is really coming together and exhibited great passing and defensive support,” said head coach Luke Wilkerson.

Earlier this season the Lions placed eighth in the team competition on Jekyll Island at the Frederica Invitational. Sean Warner led LCA with a score of 96.

The Lions also posted wins over Piedmont Academy (181-190) and Monsignor Donovan (181-182).
