SNELLVILLE — The Loganville in-line roller hockey team won the Georgia High School Roller Hockey Pre-season Tournament last weekend at the SGAA Dual Deck Arena.
Loganville competed in the Class A division and defeated Grayson, South Gwinnett and McIntosh to advance to the finals.
Other schools that participated in the tournament were Brookwood and Walton High from Cobb County.
Loganville met McIntosh in the finals and defeated them for the second time 5-2 to take home the team’s first-ever championship trophy.
Leading tournament scorers were Andrew Fussell, a George Walton Academy student, with nine goals in four games. Loganville High students Leila Cashener and Zach Debroka scored four goals each. Goalie Mike Jonakin allowed only seven goals as the Red Devils outscored their opponents 24-7.
High school roller hockey is a club sport in Georgia. The Loganville team is made up of students from the Loganville community that attend LHS and George Walton Academy.
