George Walton went on to take both ends of a region doubleheader against John Milledge Academy on March 9.
Caitlin Morris (No. 2 singles), Ashleigh Wienbarg (No. 3 singles) and the No. 2 doubles team of Jennifer Torsiglieri and Abbey Ellison took victories for the GWA girls.
Shannon West (No. 1 singles) and Lacie Tannenbaum and Morgan Tannenbaum ( No. 1 doubles) dropped their matches.
In boys’ action, George Walton claimed victory in all five matches.
Kyle Morris was a winner at No. 1 singles, Taylor Giles and Kyle Horned won their No. 1 doubles competition, and Dillon Horne and Ben Johnson claimed a win at No. 2 doubles. JMA forfeited at the other two singles spots.
“We are very happy to be playing our matches at Hammond Park this season,” said GWA coach Lori Wienbarg. “There are six courts and its great having the opportunity for the girls and boys to play at the same location. Beginning six out of 10 matches at one time allows for the games to finish earlier and visiting teams can get home at a decent hour.”
George Walton travels to Augusta Prep tomorrow.
