One qualifies for Walton County BOE Dist. 5
Published July 2, 2006
WALTON COUNTY — There could be one vacant post on the county Board of Education next year unless someone wages a write-in campaign.
That’s because only a Loganville woman filed to run as an independent candidate for the BOE’s District 5 post by Friday’s 12 p.m. deadline.
Teresa Jane Nay, 44, of Loganville, a unit marketing director for Chick-fil-A, will run in District 5 to replace Andy Camp who, in April, decided not to run.
Current school board member Kirklyn Dixon did not qualify to run for re-election, according to Walton County Board of Elections documents.
Now someone must step up and wage a write-in campaign for the District 1 post to be decided in the November election by filing “a copy of this notice with an affidavit stating that the notice has been published must be filed with the [Walton County Board of Elections Office in the Walton County Government Building] no later than Sept. 11,” according to county board of elections documents.
If no one wants to run via the write-in option, county schools Superintendent Dr. Tim Lull may choose to appoint someone to the seat that could be vacated Dec. 31, according to county Board of Elections officials.
If Lull does not appoint someone, the seat will remain vacant until a March 20 special election.
However, county voters will be asked to cast ballots for numerous races on Primary Day, July 18.
