After breezing through the first round, Social Circle and Walnut Grove each try to punch their respective tickets for a trip to Columbus next week.

Last Wednesday in Social Circle, the three-time title-holding Lady Redskins took care of  business. Social Circle swept the first-round doubleheader, winning the opener 15-4 and logging a 20-4 victory in the nightcap.

Social Circle (20-12) will entertain Bleckley County in a best-of-three series to decide the right to move on to the Class AA Eight 8. Today’s doubleheader is set for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. A third game, if necessary, will be played Thursday at Social Circle.

Bleckley County (18-15) took two straight from Fitzgerald to earn the right to face the No. 1 seed Lady Redskins.

Walnut Grove — also a No. 1 seed — takes on North Hall at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. today with the third game Thursday if needed.

The Lady Warriors (25-5) brushed aside Bainbridge in Round 1, winning the opener 12-0 and taking a 17-2 decision in the nightcap.

North Hall (22-8) topped Troup last week.
