MONROE — A Walton County resident is in jail awaiting trial on a bigamy charge.

Walton County sheriff’s deputies arrested James Edgar Howard on Thursday at a home on Jersey-Walnut Grove Road. He was wanted on a warrant from the Ringgold Police Department.

Howard, of 160 Cannon Farm Road, Oxford, was transferred to the Catoosa County Jail on Monday and was being held Tuesday morning without bond.

The charge is a felony, according to jail records.

The Ringgold detective handling the case did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
