JACKSON, Ga. — A late-night chase ended with a man jumping out of his car and into Lake Jackson.

The Newton County Sheriff's Office on Friday said deputies attempted a traffic stop between 9-10 p.m. Thursday on Georgia 36. The chase reached high speeds and crossed into Butts County.

Caitlin Jett, communications officer for the Newton County Sheriff's Office, said the deputies continued working into Friday to find the suspect, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation had joined in the search.
