MADISON, Ga. — Kip Herndon will retire later this month after a long career in banking.

Herndon is the senior vice president and loan officer with the Bank of Madison, which owns the Bank of Social Circle.

He will retire on June 30 after 44 years in the industry.

During his career, he has served as the finance chairman at Rutledge United Methodist Church and a coach in the Morgan County Recreation Department.

He is a past member of the Morgan County Planning Commission and past president of the Kiwanis Club in Madison. He is a past president of the Madison-Morgan Chamber of Commerce.

He has served for 30 years on the Georgia Bankers Association Credit Committee.

The bank will play host to a retirement reception in its board room, in the annex building behind the main office at 133 N. Main St., Madison, from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Friday.
