Betty McCants Brackett, of Monroe, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013. Born in Phoenix City, Ala., the daughter of Howard Watson McCants and Sarah Parsons McCants, she was a member of Walker Baptist Church.
Brackett attended Athens High School and worked for several years at the Department of Family and Children Services. She loved the Lord, her family and making quilts.
Brackett is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ernest Marshall Brackett Jr., of Monroe; son, Ernest Marshall Brackett III and wife, Ann, of Wake Forest, N.C.; daughter, Carol Lynn Brackett Puffer and husband, David, of Des Moines, Iowa; son, Gary Cook Brackett and wife, Jill, of Eatonton; daughter, Sarah Beth Brackett Starrett and husband, Randy, of Monroe; grandchildren, Ashleigh Taylor Brackett, Seth Daniel Phillips, Maya Elaine Phillips Swenson and husband, Brock Swenson, Gregory Cook Brackett, Zachary Ryan Brackett, Tanner Decatur Brackett, Bradley David Starrett and wife, Sallie, and Brittany Kay Starrett McGill and husband, the Rev. Marcus McGill. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Fitzpatrick and Maxine McCants, and brother, Chuck McCants.
Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 11 at Walker Baptist Church with Jeff Box officiating.
