All this cold weather we’ve had of late has people arguing the wisdom of anyone making a claim of global warming — but I’m not going to get into that. If the scientists can’t agree, even spending a night or two at a Holiday Inn wouldn’t give me enough insight to weigh in on this. And to be honest, if Al Gore and the global warming theorists are right, I doubt I will be around to experience too much of the fall out. I do, however, hope to be around at least for the next 20 years or so, which is the period I’m most concerned with right now.

Except for the Christmas Day miracle, I’m pretty much over any snow awe at the moment, so I wasn’t too happy to receive Accuweather’s press release with its chief, long-range forecaster Joe Bastardi’s predictions for the next 30 years — in particular the next five. According to Bastardi, if 2011 was too cold for you, you’re really not going to enjoy the next five. He predicts at least three or four of them will be colder than this one — and on top of that the cycle is headed into a colder pattern for the next 20 or 30 years.
