LOGANVILLE — Three Loganville Christian Academy baseball players were named all-region for Region 1-AAA of the Georgia Independent School Association this week.
Leading the all-region team for the Lions was starting pitcher Hunter Burnett.
Burnett went 4-1 this season on the mound while tallying 35 strikeouts and keeping his ERA at 2.25. Burnett also led the Lions on offense, compiling a .415 batting average with 22 hits and 10 runs batted in.
Third baseman Cole Yancey finished the season with a .390 batting average, 23 hits and 16 RBIs on his way to an all-region selection. Yancey also saw some time on the mound were he went 1-1 with a 4.32 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 111⁄3 innings of work.
Rounding out the all-region selections for the Lions was shortstop Donovan Taitt. Taitt finished the season with a .338 batting average, 22 hits, seven RBIs and eight stolen bases.
Loganville Christian finished the season at 11-11, losing to the Valwood School in the first round of the GISA playoffs. The season was the first under head coach Russell Hendricks in his second stint with the Lions.
