NEWNAN — For the first time in school history, the Loganville Christian Academy volleyball team made it to the final four of a state tournament and while the Lady Lions didn't progress to the championship game, the Lion Nation has much to celebrate.

“Our volleyball program took a huge step forward under first-year coach Ryan Sarrett,” Athletic Director Andre King said. “The team worked really hard and their season was a great accomplishment.”

In league meetings Monday, four Lady Lions were named to the Region 1-AAA Georgia Independent School Association All-Region Team: Claire Crawford, Allison Ford, Annalyn Kendall and Callie Sirmans. Ford was the only LCA player to be named to the GISA All-State team.

In Final Four action, the Lady Lions lost to Oak Mountain Academy (Carrollton), the eventual state champs, in straight sets, 14-25, 16-25 and 10-25. The Lady Warriors scored almost 70 percent of their points on kills and aces in the contest.

LCA advanced to the Final Four with wins over Fredrica Academy (St. Simons) and the Weber School (Dunwoody) to face Oak Mountain, who had a first-round bye and a second-round win over Grace.
