WALNUT GROVE — Both Walnut Grove basketball teams suffered losses at the hands of Jonesboro high school Friday night.
The girls were defeated handily, 56-36. The Lady Warriors are now 0-5 on the year but still have plenty of chances to improve with 20 games left to play this season.
The boys’ score, however, was much closer with Jonesboro barely edging the Warriors 58-52. The loss gave the Warriors their first loss on the season, leaving them with a 4-1 record.
The Monroe Area boys downed Loganville in a cross county matchup Saturday by a final of 64-56.
On the girls’ side, Loganville was able to walk away with a 50-32 win against Monroe Area.
Both Monroe Area teams now sit at 3-1 overall, while Loganville boys and girls sit at 0-4 and 3-3, respectively.
George Walton’s boys team is still looking for their first win after falling to 0-2 at the hands of Tallulah Falls 50-42 Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-2 with 46-26 win again Tallulah Falls.
The Social Circle boys team sits at 2-2 while the girls team boasts a 4-1 record with both teams recording wins recently against Glascock County.
George Walton, Monroe Area, Loganville and Social Circle all were to play Tuesday.
