Loganville senior picture Mitchell Miller, who has committed to Mississippi State University, threw a complete game against East Paulding in the Red Devils' opening-round sweep in the state high school baseball playoffs.

DALLAS, Ga. — Loganville advanced in the state high school baseball playoffs with a first-round sweep of East Paulding.

The Red Devils won the opener of the best-of-three series 10-2, then got the second game 3-2 in the Class AAAAA playoffs. Mitchell Miller and Timothy Elliott both pitched complete games for Loganville (20-6).

Loganville will play the winner of the Starr's Mill-Northside series. Region 1 champion Northside won the opener 6-4, but Starr's Mill rallied for a 10-3 win in the nightcap. The teams decide their series Saturday in Columbus.

The second round series will feature two games Wednesday and the third game, if necessary, on Thursday.

Social Circle split its Class AA opening series at Heard County. The visiting Redskins won the opener 8-7 but lost the second game 10-3. They'll meet again at noon Saturday in Franklin.

George Walton also drew a sweep in its Class A (private) first-round series. The Bulldogs lost 5-4 in their opener against First Presbyterian Day but rallied for a 7-1 win in Game 2.

After a decisive Game 3 on Saturday, the winner will draw Hebron Christian in the second round on Wednesday. Hebron swept Walker on Friday.
